The Fire Marshal's Office is staffed by experienced Inspector/Investigators under the direction of Division Chief Paul Smith. The Fire Marshal's Office is charged with protecting the lives of our citizens and the infrastructure of our community through prevention, education and enforcement of the laws and regulations governing fire safety.
The Fire Marshal’s Office handles a broad range of activities including:
- Commercial plan reviews on remodels and new construction projects
- Fire safety inspections at businesses, schools and apartments
- Fire safety education and prevention programs
- Investigation of fires and explosions
- Testing and installing residential smoke alarms
Commercial Plan Reviews
Commercial plan reviews are performed on all construction projects to ensure compliance with adopted fire codes. By locating potential issues during the planning stage, problems can be corrected on paper before construction even begins.
The Fire Marshal's Office conducts routine inspections throughout the construction project to verify the project is on track and up to code.
Fire Safety Inspections
Each year, the Euless Fire Department conducts hundreds of fire safety inspections in all types of businesses and occupancies throughout the city. Any noted hazards are brought to the attention of the business owner or manager on duty and a plan of action is discussed to correct the violations in a timely manner.
These inspections help ensure that properties are maintained and businesses are safe for employees and visitors. Over a thousand code violations are discovered and corrected every year through this process.
Fire Safety Education
The Public Education Coordinator develops and directs a variety of public education programs to teach Euless citizens about fire safety.
Classes are designed for target audiences including young children, senior citizens, employees in hazardous occupations, or any group eager to learn about fire safety.
Some classes include:
- How to operate a fire extinguisher
- Workplace fire safety
- Emergency preparedness
Firefighters also participate by giving engine and station tours as well as attending parades, special events and community programs throughout the year. Everyone in the Euless Fire Department is involved in fire safety education.
The Euless Fire Department is proud of our incredibly talented and active fire prevention clown troop. Clowning is a fun and engaging method to help kids learn and retain fire safety messages. Our clowns present an annual fire safety message to over 5,000 school children and participate in numerous activities throughout the year.
The clowns videotape public safety announcements to further educate our citizens on important fire safety messages. These messages are then posted on social media.
After a fire, specially trained investigators are called to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
Investigators are cross-trained as Police Officers and as Firefighters and conduct investigations into both criminal and non-criminal fire causes.
The arson investigators employed by the Euless Fire Department are commissioned peace officers who work closely with the Euless Police Department Criminal Investigation Division on any suspected arson cases.
