Kent and Kent State University have a rich art legacy. Although we have terrific galleries that are located on Main Street, they are anything but main stream.

Art runs deep in Kent’s DNA; both formally – with art degrees and arts education programs like the Artist Entrepreneurship Institute and professional galleries like Standing Rock and McKay Bricker – and informally, with Indie artists found around town sharing their talents in unexpected places.

The arts bring out the best of those “only-in-Kent” moments. From the 10th annual National Ceramic Cup juried-art exhibition to the Farmer’s Market Mural to the projection art displayed on the top of the Star of the West grain tower, Kent art surprises and defies convention  – as art does best.
